CORPS TO CELEBRATE MILLWOOD LAKE’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY

ASHDOWN, Ark. - Officials at the Army Corps of Engineers Millwood Project Office are hosting a 50th anniversary celebration at Millwood Lake, 10 a.m. Thursday Dec. 1. The celebration will be held at the Millwood Overlook on the east side of Millwood Dam and immediately adjacent to State Highway 32 East.

Colonel Robert Dixon, Little Rock District Commander will be the keynote speaker. Scheduled speakers include: Danny Gray, Southwest Arkansas Water District, board president, Kevin McDainels, Little Rock District, chief of operations, and Steve Spicer, operation project manager, Millwood Tri-Lakes.

At the conclusion of the ceremony a time capsule will be placed to mark the event followed by refreshments.

People traveling from Saratoga, Ark. to the ceremony should take State Highway 32 East towards Ashdown, Ark for about six miles and turn left into Beard’s Lake and River Run East area.

People traveling from Ashdown, Ark. to the ceremony should take State Highway 32 East for about eight miles and cross the Millwood Dam, turning right into Beard’s Lake and River Run East area. A shuttle will provide transport guests to the Millwood Overlook from the Beard’s Lake parking lot.
