PIEDMONT, Mo. – The Army Corps of Engineers, Clearwater Lake, is proud to announce that applications are available for our annual mobility impaired deer hunt for non-ambulatory hunters as well as our annual wounded warrior deer hunt for veterans with service related disabilities.  Both hunts will take place Nov. 3 and Nov. 4.

This is the 16th year that Clearwater Lake has hosted a special hunt, and we are excited about this year’s opportunities.  From a management standpoint, this hunt helps regulate the deer herd that resides on and around the Clearwater Lake Project.

Removing some of these deer will provide remaining animals with more food, reducing chances of over population, and maintaining an overall healthier deer herd.  Blinds are strategically located for hunters use.

Mobility impaired hunt applicants must be non-ambulatory individuals who have a permanent physical condition that severely impairs their mobility from either paralysis or amputation of lower extremities, which requires assistance from a wheelchair, braces, crutches or other similar aids of mobility.  Veteran applicants must have service related disabilities.

There will be three permits issued per hunt, allowing one deer per hunter.  Applications for the managed hunts are now available from the Clearwater Lake Project Office as well as from our website.

To obtain an online application simply go our website, print the application and complete all requested information, then fax to 573-223-4029; email to Project.Clearwater.Project.Info@usace.army.mil; or mail the completed copy to the Clearwater Project Office, RR 3, Box 3559 D, Piedmont, MO 63957.

Applications for both the mobility impaired hunt and Wounded Warrior hunt must be completed and received by the Clearwater Project Office by Sept. 30.
