 Fishing

Table Rock Lake boasts an abundance of crappie, catfish, and bluegill; but the lake is known as one of the best bass fishing lakes in this hemisphere.  Its reputation for producing hefty stringers of bass laced with lunkers was earned through an unprecedented management program.  The foundations of this program are a 15-inch length limit and creel limit of six fish linked with an abundant food chain. The result is large numbers of largemouth, Kentucky and smallmouth bass of exceptional size available anytime of the year for the professional and novice angler alike. Check out the current MDC Fishing Report for Table Rock.

In cooperation with the US Army Corps of Engineers Table Rock Lake Project Office, Missouri Department of Conservation, and Bass Pro Shops, recycled Christmas trees and other natural habitat structures have been placed in various areas in Table Rock Lake. To view maps of these locations you may view the interactive fish habitat structure maps with GPS coordinates by visiting the Missouri Department of Conservation's website.

Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery is operated by the Missouri Department of Conservation.  The hatchery raises rainbow and brown trout. These trout are stocked in the cold waters of Lake Taneycomo below Table Rock Dam. Hatchery tours are given throughout the summer months.

 Hiking/Biking

Table Rock Lakeshore Trail

The Table Rock Lakeshore Trail is a 2.2 mile, asphalt trail which runs from the Table Rock Project Office and Dewey Short Visitor Center grounds to the Table Rock State Park Marina.  The trail is open to foot traffic, wheelchairs and bicycles. Trail amenities include water fountains, restrooms, benches and bike racks.  Persons using the trail in the spring will view dogwood, serviceberry and redbud trees in bloom as well as many wildflowers. During the fall season, visitors are treated to colorful fall foliage. The trail also offers beautiful views of Table Rock Lake. The trail will take you by the Showboat Branson Belle and through Table Rock State Park.  Table Rock Lakeshore Trail Map PDF

White River Valley Trail System

The White River Valley Trail System consists of 10.25 miles of interconnected loop trails appropriate for mountain biking or hiking.   The trail has a natural surface.  Hikers and mountain bikers will encounter rocks, tree roots, and water crossings.

The trail system goes through land that was largely disturbed during the construction of Table Rock Dam in the late 1950s. Some parts of the trail are built on roads that were used for the construction, such as the conveyor route that moved rock from the Baird Mountain Quarry to the dam site. There are scenic areas including small waterfalls, views of Table Rock and Taneycomo , and an abandoned farmstead. The land is rugged with elevations ranging from 710 feet to nearly 1,200 feet above sea level. Natural communities along the trail range from moist bottomland forest along Lake Taneycomo to dry dolomite glades on the higher areas.

Trailheads are located off of Hwy 165 near the state park office and off of Trophy Run Road.  Stop by the Dewey Short Visitor Center or Table Rock State Park Office to pick up a map.  Drinking water is not available on the trail.  Camping is not allowed along the trail.

The trail is a cooperative effort between Table Rock State Park and the US Army Corps of Engineers.  The portion of trail that runs through US Army Corps of Engineers managed lands is closed during turkey and deer hunting seasons.
