Dam Facts

The “normal” pool level of 461' msl is 100 ft. higher than Heber Springs Courthouse floor.

Trees were removed from 434' msl up to 461' msl near the recreation areas.

The base of the Dam is 200 feet wide.

Discoloration on face of dam due to residual elements of the oil used in the forms to keep the concrete from sticking.

Pressure relief holes inside bottom of dam that allow water getting underneath dam to come up into the gallery and be pumped to the river.  Theoretically, the pressure on the downstream toe of the dam could build sufficiently to topple the dam into the lake if not relieved.
