Parks & Campgrounds

11 USACE parks feature 677 campsites with utilities and amenities. Picnic shelters available, many reservable via Recreation.gov.

Day-use access is included with eligible campground reservations. Fees apply to some amenities.

  • Day-use: $5 per carload
  • Annual pass: $40
  • Camping guests are exempt from daily fees
  • Pay at self-service kiosks in each park (cards only; no cash or checks)

Special Events & Activities

Special events and organized activities on USACE-managed lands or waters require permits to ensure public safety and minimize environmental impact.

Required for organized activities on USACE-managed lands or waters

Special events at Beaver Lake include organized gatherings that may impact normal public use, require additional services, or generate revenue. These activities require a Special Event or Special Activity Permit before they can take place.

Examples of special events include:

  • Fishing tournaments, races, or regattas
  • Firework Shows
  • Concerts, festivals, or large group picnics
  • Weddings, reunions, or other organized gatherings exceeding normal group size limits
  • Any event charging admission or participation fees

Permit requirements are based on:

  • Group size
  • Type of activity (organized, competitive, commercial, or impacting public access)
  • Duration and location (land or water-based, public or restricted areas)
  • Fee assessment per ER 1130-2-550 guidelines

Water Safety

Designated swim beaches include floating safety lines and boat exclusion buoys. No lifeguards a life jacket loaner station is available.

Water Safety Essentials

  • Always wear a properly fitted life jacket
  • Swim only in designated areas with lifeguards when available
  • Never swim alone - use the buddy system
  • Check water conditions and weather before entering
  • Be aware of underwater hazards and changing depths

Discover Beaver Lake's diverse trail system featuring scenic bluff overlooks, prehistoric Native American shelters, historic homesteads, and abundant wildlife. From easy lakeside strolls to moderate ridge-top adventures, these well-marked trails showcase the natural beauty and rich history of the Arkansas Ozarks.

🏛️ Historical Note: Many trails feature overhanging limestone bluffs that served as shelters for prehistoric Native American tribes, offering both natural beauty and cultural significance.

Bench Rock Nature Trail

Panoramic lake views from bluff tops. Steep and narrow sections with excellent vantage points. Trail begins at Indian Creek Park gatehouse.

Lost Bridge Hiking Trail

📏 6 miles ⏱️ 4.5 hours Moderate

Historic Old Schrader Homestead ruins, rock bluffs, and sandstone-limestone outcroppings. Relatively flat through heavily wooded areas.

Dogwood Trail

📏 2 miles ⏱️ 1.5 hours Moderate

Spectacular overlooks and one of Beaver Lake's largest bluff shelters. Features abundant flowering dogwood trees and steep terrain.

Rimrock Trail

📏 1 mile ⏱️ 40 minutes Easy

Flat leisure hike along limestone bluff base. Wildflowers, hardwood trees, and beautiful lake views. Located at Prairie Creek Park.

Hidden Diversity Multi-Use

Four connected loops at Hobbs State Park. Ridge-top views with intermittent wet conditions. Multi-use for hiking and biking.

Tranquil Timbers Trail

📏 0.3 miles ⏱️ 20 minutes Easy

Flat trail through shortleaf pines. Known for deer sightings and occasional wild turkey. Perfect for families with children.

Day Pass Hang Tags

Exchange your USACE Annual Pass receipt for a permanent hangtag at staffed locations or project offices throughout the Little Rock District.

You've purchased your USACE Annual Day-Use Pass and received a temporary receipt-congratulations! Now it's time to exchange that receipt for your permanent hangtag, so you can enjoy hassle-free access to all U.S. Army Corps of Engineers boat ramps and day-use areas for the next year.

Step-by-Step Redemption Instructions:

  1. Purchase the Pass You will receive a temporary paper receipt when you buy the $40 annual pass at any staffed collection point or automated machine. This receipt is valid for immediate display on your vehicle's dashboard—until you exchange it for the hangtag.
  2. Visit a Booth to Exchange When you're on-site, stop by the staffed booth or gatehouse to exchange your temporary receipt. You'll receive the actual hangtag—valid for 12 months from the purchase month—to hang from your rearview mirror.
  3. If the Booth Is Closed If the booth or gatehouse is not open when you visit, no worries! You can redeem your receipt at your local USACE Project Office instead.
