Wildlife
management at Greers Ferry Lake is a coordinated effort between
the Corps of Engineers and Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
Approximately 9,000 acres of land lying above the conservation
pool is leased to the Commission for wildlife management purposes.
This area is known as the Greers Ferry Lake Wildlife Management
Area.
Hunting for white-tailed deer, eastern wild turkey, rabbit
and squirrel are good to excellent. Deer hunting is restricted
to archery tackle only. No rifles (including muzzleloading
rifles) or handguns may be used to harvest any game species.
Hunting is prohibited in developed parks and Sugar Loaf Mountain.
Licenses for hunting and fishing are required in accordance
to state and federal law. Sportsmen should consult and follow
state regulations. Maps and other information with regard
to hunting are available by contacting the Project Office.
