Viewing
Watching
and photographing wildlife can be enjoyed in developed and undeveloped
areas alike. Although many different habitat types are found on
Bull Shoals, not all their residents are easily seen. Before charging
into the woods to look for animals you can save yourself some time
by thinking about the animal’s habitat. Habitat is made up
of food, water, shelter and living space. Consider what the animal
would eat and where you will find that. Think about areas where
the animal, especially smaller animals, will have cover. Keep in
mind that many animals use the lake or one of the Corps of Engineers
wildlife ponds for water and so can frequently be seen in these
areas. Finally, the first and last hours of daylight are generally
the best time for viewing wildlife. Don’t forget to take your
binoculars, spotting scope, or a camera with telephoto lens and
field guides.
