Colonel Glen A. Masset assumed duties as District Engineer and Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District on June 15, 2010. 

The District is responsible for a $1.17 billion program in fiscal year 2010.  This includes civil works, military construction, environmental stewardship, emergency management and work in support of other government organizations, throughout Arkansas, southern Missouri and the nation.  The district has a staff of about 790 employees. It supervises the Arkansas River and other waterways, including 13 locks and dams, 12 multi-purpose lakes, seven hydroelectric power plants, and more than a half million acres of public lands and water.

Colonel Masset came to Little Rock District from Vaihingen, Germany, where he was Deputy Engineer Division Chief, Logistics Directorate, Headquarters, United States European Command. 

Colonel Masset enlisted in the North Dakota Army National Guard in Nov 1982 as a Combat Engineer Soldier, where he served in both enlisted and officer positions.  In May 1989, he graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management & Engineering and entered Active Duty with a Regular Army commission in the Corps of Engineers.

He is also a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS; the Combined Arms Staff Service School also at Fort Leavenworth; the Armor Officers Advanced Course at Fort Knox, KY; the Engineer Officer’s Basic Course at Fort Belvoir, VA; and the Army’s Jungle Warfare and Airborne Schools.

His prior assignments include: Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer, 5th Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Maintenance Officer, 130th Engineer Brigade, Hanau, GE; Company Commander, 16th Engineer Battalion, Bamberg, GE; Engineer Observer/Controller, Combat Maneuver Training Center, Hohenfels, GE; Equipment Officer and S-3 Operations Officer, 937th Engineer Group, and Executive Officer, 1st Engineer Battalion, Fort Riley, KS; and Deputy Chief of Staff, and Chief, Training Integration Office, U.S. Army Engineer School, Fort Leonard Wood, MO.  He took command of the 9th Engineer Battalion (C)(M), 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division (M), Schweinfurt, GE, on 22 Jun 2005 and  deployed as commander of Task Force 9th Engineers (Gila) to Operation Iraqi Freedom from Sep 2006 to Nov 2007.  COL Masset has served in the following Operations: Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Joint Endeavor, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom (OIF I and OIF 06-08). 

His military awards include: Bronze Star (1OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (3OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3OLC), and Army Achievement Medal (1OLC).
