SAILING INSTRUCTION – UPDATE

NM 142 to NM 143

MCCLELLAN-KERR ARKANSAS RIVER NAVIGATION SYSTEM

Due to shoaling, mariners are advised that until further notice, both upbound and downbound tows should run the center line from NM 142-143. Use caution; the channel narrows to 180' width at elevation 142.5.  No passing is advised while transiting this reach.  The revised instruction is based on the moving of buoys to better mark the navigable channel.

The Army Corps of Engineers vessel M/V Dan Reeves and its crane barge will be around NM 142 - 143 for the next several days to clam high spots.  Mariners are asked to contact the M/V Dan Reeves via Marine Channel 16 or 82 at least 1 hour prior to reaching this area to ensure it is out of the way before arrival.

Questions or requests for additional information concerning this notice should be directed to James McKinnie in the Little Rock District Office, at (501) 324-5739 or (501)324-5096, or you may email CESWL-OP-OM@usace.army.mil.
