Spillway release at Beaver Dam Dec. 21.

ROGERS, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District began a spillway release at 10 a.m. today from Beaver Dam.

Because one turbine generator is off-line for maintenance, two spillway gates were opened one foot releasing 2,000 cubic feet per second in addition to the 4,000 c.f.s. being released through one turbine generator.  The total release will be about 6,000 c.f.s. Spillway releases are expected to continue until Wednesday when the turbine maintenance is complete.

The lake crested today at 1,127 feet above sea level. Lake elevation forecasts can be found at the Little Rock District water management website: http://www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil/pages/reports/remote/lakfcst.htm.

Please use caution when boating and fishing below the Beaver Dam while water releases are in effect. The Corps reminds boat dock owners to be vigilant as the lake drops to ensure their docks are properly anchored, maintained and floating.
