LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – At a proclamation ceremony today Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson declared May 16 through 22 as Safe Boating Week in Arkansas.

The proclamation coincides with the National Safe Boating Week Campaign and is supported by the Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock and Vicksburg districts, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 15-08, Little Rock and North Little Rock Fire Departments and the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office.

The proclamation states that it is essential for boating enthusiast to recognize the importance of taking certain safety precautions, including always wearing life jackets and never operating a boat under the influence of alcohol.
