Mariners are cautioned that one of the ten crest gates in the navigation pass is experiencing problems and is partially raised at elevation 105’. At present this gate cannot be lowered further. These crest gates normally lie flat (el 102’) when the navigation pass is open. Vessels with drafts deeper than 9 feet run the risk of striking this gate as the water level decreases. At noon today the tailwater elevation was at 117.07’, having dropped 0.45’ the previous 24 hours.
Mariners are also reminded that at tailwater elevations less than 115’ the navigation pass will be closed and all vessels will be required to use the lock.
