NAV NOTICE SWL 13-26 MKARNS - TOW HAULAGE PROCEDURES DURING HIGH FLOWS

This notice is a reminder to mariners that during high flows on the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, the following procedures will be in effect.

 

When flows exceed 100,000 cubic feet per second, tow haulage equipment will not be used for upbound and downbound tows at the following locks:  Joe Hardin (No. 3), Emmett Sanders (No. 4), Colonel Charles D. Maynard (No. 5), and David D. Terry (No. 6).  Double cut tows will be locked the conventional way.

 

When flows exceed 100,000 cubic feet per second, tow haulage equipment will not be used for upbound tows at the following locks:  Murray (No. 7), Toad Suck Ferry (No. 8), Arthur V. Ormond (No. 9), and James W. Trimble (No. 13).  Double cut tows will be locked the conventional way.

 

Any time the duty operator feels it is unsafe, tow haulage equipment will not be used and tows will be locked the conventional way.
