NAV NOTICE SWL 13-06 MKARNS - REVISION - TOW HAULAGE OUT OF SERVICE

Published Feb. 8, 2013

Tow haulage equipment at Colonel Charles D. Maynard Lock (No. 5) is out of service.  Double cut tows must be locked the conventional way (without the use of tow haulage).  Mariners should be advised that due to shallow water near the bank, northbound doubles are having difficulty maneuvering around barges tied to the downstream wall.  They may want to consider reducing the barge count before reaching this area, or have another vessel assist with the lockage.

Repair is estimated to be completed by Thursday, February 14.  Another notice will be distributed when the tow haulage equipment is back in service.
