Corps issues reminder for Greers Ferry Lake Shoreline Management Plan comment period

HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. -- The Army Corps of Engineers is reminding anyone interested in the Greers Ferry Lake Shoreline Management Plan revision process concerning shoreline allocations around the lake to submit their comments by Sept. 30, 2019.

Comments can be mailed to: Greers Ferry Lake SMP Planner, Natural Resources Management Section, USACE, Little Rock District, P.O. Box 867, Little Rock, AR 72203; or email your comments to CESWL-GreersFerryLakeSMP@usace.army.mil. An on-line fillable comment card is available at https://go.usa.gov/xyAc9.

The SMP for Greers Ferry Lake establishes policy and furnishes guidelines for the protection and conservation of the environmental characteristics of the shoreline, while maintaining a balance between public and private shoreline use. Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), an Environmental Assessment of potential impacts of the draft plan will also be prepared.

The Greers Ferry Lake SMP main objectives are to manage and protect the shoreline, to establish and maintain acceptable fish and wildlife habitat, aesthetic quality and natural environment conditions and to promote the safe and healthful use of the lake and shoreline for recreational purposes.
