CORPS CLOSES ACCESS TO ROADWAYS AND FACILITIES BELOW MILLS DAM UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Published June 14, 2019
TICHNOR, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers, Pine Bluff Site Office has temporarily closed roadways and facilities below Wilbur D. Mills Dam until further notice because of a high voltage transmission tower that became unstable during the recent flooding event.
Reservations for the Mills campground have been cancelled and refunds will be processed but recreational opportunities on the Lower Arkansas River are still available to visitors at Jardis Point Day Use Area and Pendleton Bend Park.
The closure has been coordinated with Entergy, local emergency and law enforcement agencies. Officials from the Army Corps of Engineers, Pine Bluff Site Office regret any inconvenience this may cause and ask motorists, pedestrians, and boaters to avoid these areas and to not drive or walk around barricades. Public safety and security are top priorities during this historic flood event.
For more information on this closure please call the Arkansas Post Field Office at 870-548-2291.
