BRANSON, Mo. - Dewey Short Visitor Center will be closing for the season in mid-December. The last day of operation for the 2018 season will be Saturday, Dec. 15. The visitor center will reopen for the 2019 season on Friday, Feb. 15.

Dewey Short Visitor Center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is located just south of Table Rock Dam on State Highway 165.  The visitor center offers interactive displays, a 22-minute movie about the purpose and construction of the dam, and viewing decks overlooking Table Rock Lake and dam. Picnic facilities and a 2.2-mile asphalt surface trail are located on the visitor center grounds.

Dewey Short Visitor Center will be closing their theater for a private special event, Friday, Dec. 7. During this time our regular presentation of The Taming of La Riveria Blanche will not be available, we apologize for the inconvenience to our visitors.

Park rangers will be offering the following interpretive programs and events at Dewey Short Visitor Center during the first half of December.  All programs are free of charge and no registration is required.

On Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m., join a ranger to learn about cold weather water safety and how to best be prepared for the unexpected.

Visit the Dewey Short Visitor Center on Saturdays, Dec. 8 and 15 at 2 p.m. to learn from a park ranger about the many benefits of hydropower and how it is created at Table Rock Dam.

For the month of December, the Visitor Center’s discovery room features children’s activities and information about the benefits of recycling live Christmas trees to be used as fish attractors at Table Rock Lake.
