PIEDMONT, Mo. – The Clearwater Lake Army Corps of Engineers, the Missouri Department of Conservation, Missouri Department Of Natural Resources and League of Watershed Guardians have teamed up again and are seeking volunteers and sponsors to pitch in for a two-day clean up on June 16 and 17 to help clean up the Black River.

Registration will be at River Road Park Group Camping area on HH Highway and will start at 8:30 a.m. each day.

Trash bags for litter will be furnished to all participants at the check-in stations.  Boots or tennis shoes are recommended or shoes that do not have open toes or heels.  Remember, any kids participating in cleanup must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Volunteers with canoes or kayaks can bring them to transport their own families and friends.  Please bring life jackets with you as they are mandatory while in a boat participating in the cleanup.  If you do not have a boat, transportation will be provided to and from various sites along the river.

Arrangements have been made for pick-up of trash left by the volunteers along the shoreline.  To facilitate the pick-up, volunteers should leave the bagged trash in conspicuous locations along the river bank close to the water.

Dinner will be provided at the end of the cleanup day on Saturday.  Also, for those volunteers participating in the cleanup, free camping will be available on a first come first served basis from Thursday, June 14 through Tuesday, June 18.  To take advantage of the free camping, please RSVP to douggeist@charter.net.  A limited number of campsites will be set aside in River Road Park and participants should stop and register at the River Road Gate House upon arrival.

River Road Campground is located just below the Clearwater Lake Dam off Highway HH about 6 miles from the town of Piedmont, Missouri.
