  • CORPS ACCEPTS YOUTH MUZZLELOADER DEER HUNT APPLICATIONS

    The Army Corps of Engineers is reminding the public that it’s accepting applications through Oct. 31 for a youth muzzleloader hunt to be held Dec.13 and 14 at Ozark Isle Park on Bull Shoals Lake. Ten permits will be issued to hunter education graduates, 15 years old and under.
  • Corps Parks along Arkansas River Prepare for Winter Season

    The first week of November marks the winter recreation season for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Russellville Project Office. Partial or full closure of several parks stretching from Little Rock to Fort Smith allow for maintenance needs and campsite recuperation from the 2014 recreation season.
  • WORK ON GREERS FERRY DAM TO IMPACT TRAFFIC FROM OCTOBER THROUGH JANUARY

    The Army Corps of Engineers will be working on the Greers Ferry Dam turbine intake gates from Oct. 20, 2014, through January 2015. The work will create traffic delays on the Arkansas Highway 25 Bridge across the dam.
  • CORPS LIFTS SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY FOR ARKANSAS RIVER

    The Army Corps of Engineers has lifted the small craft advisory for the Arkansas River. Advisories are issued when flows reach 70,000 cubic feet per second. Even though flows have receded below that threshold, Corps officials urge boaters to always use caution when on the river.

    Montgomery Point Lock & Dam - Mariners are cautioned that one of the ten crest gates in the navigation pass is experiencing problems and is partially raised at elevation 105’. At present this gate cannot be lowered further. These crest gates normally lie flat (el 102’) when the navigation pass is open. Vessels with drafts deeper than 9 feet run the risk of striking this gate as the water level decreases. At noon today the tailwater elevation was at 117.07’, having dropped 0.45’ the previous 24 hours.

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. -- The Army Corps of Engineers is extending the comment period for public input concerning the Bull Shoals Lake Master Plan through Oct. 8.
  • ONE LANE OF HIGHWAY 107 TO TEMPORARILY CLOSE IN OCTOBER

    HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. – One lane of Highway 107 across the large saddle dike #1 (Big Dike) will be closed intermittently from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. weekdays beginning Tuesday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 17.
  • CORPS SEEKS VOLUNTEERS FOR LAKE CLEANUP

    ROGERS, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers Beaver Lake Project Office is looking for volunteers to join the Annual Beaver Lake Cleanup, Saturday, Oct. 4. Volunteers should check-in by 8 a.m. at Prairie Creek, Hickory Creek, or Dam Site Lake parks. The cleanup will take place from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Trash bags will be furnished to all participants at each check-in station, but volunteers are asked to bring your own gloves.
